What is a Kitchen Witch?

Well... What is a Kitchen Witch?

As labels go, people are not always easy to define. Even the label “Witch” is not always accurate. Are you a Wiccan Witch? A Hollywood Witch? A Good Witch? A Bad Witch? OR are you a Witch who follows traditions not defined by simple label?

As you can see, when I set out the “define” what or who exactly is a Kitchen Witch, I run into some

The term "Kitchen Witch" is the combination of Kitchen and Witch. Let’s break down the term Kitchen Witch to define them simply. *Said in my best and most pretentious voice*

Kitchen – A room within a home or establishment intended for the preparation of food.

Witch - A practitioner of witchcraft.

Thank you for indulging me. I have a sick sense of humor, and I could not resist. It seems like several authors and bloggers feel the need to insult our intelligence by breaking down ridiculous words. I know the tendency  is to dumb things down, because you don't know who is reading your blog, much less their level of education/understanding. I don't feel you would fall into the category of "speak slowly and use small words". I'm not 5, and I am fairly certain you are not 5... so let us speak as educated adults shall we?

Okay I have my serious panties on now. I think… Do ladybugs and sparkles say responsible adult to you? *snicker*

Okay, OK! I’m serious now. I promise…

As you can see a Kitchen Witch one who practices Witchcraft in his/her kitchen. This type of practice will most likely involve recipes, cooking, entertaining, gardening, and loads of cookbooks. It’s sick really, how many cookbooks I own. Kitchen Witches use food as their means for creating and actualizing Magickal intent. Recipes and food is their form of connecting with the Divine and spell crafting. 

The Kitchen Witch may also have a primary focus of hearth and home. All the tools of the kitchen are his/her Magickal tools. A Kitchen Witch may also be very conscious about how he/she eats and what products are allowing in his/her sacred space, aka the kitchen. He/she may also maintain his/her garden not far from the kitchen door. A Kitchen Witch my compost, recycle, hand make a variety of items, and so on.  If you think about it, the kitchen is the perfect location in any home for just about any witch, yet it is the Kitchen Witch takes specific pride in making this space Magickal.

The kitchen is a space where you can make anything from hearty meals to bath bombs, and play dough. It is usually well equipped and easily accessible. Most have a large table for working, sitting, and enjoying the fruits of your labor. The kitchen is also inviting. In just about every home the kitchen seems to be where everyone congregates.

Of course this does not completely describe a Kitchen Witch and all his/her working but it gives you are very good idea. One key thing to note is that a Kitchen Witch LOVES to cook.
